Stephen Lee Weaver, 83, of Bradenton, FL, and Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 17, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Steve was born on March 11, 1941, the son of the late Lester H. Weaver and Elizabeth (Betty) Kespohl Weaver of Indianapolis, IN.

He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Weaver of Indianapolis, IN, and Shelbi Ericsson of Bradenton, FL; son-in -law, Tom Ericsson; his two grandchildren whom he adored grandson, Hunter Ericsson and granddaughter, Harper Ericsson, all of Bradenton, FL; sister, Vicki Paul (Bob) of Culver, IN, and Ellenton, FL, and ex-wife, Anita Weaver of Bradenton, FL.

Steve was born and raised in Indianapolis; he was long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Steve was a very proud 1959 graduate of Ben Davis High School and furthered his education at Purdue University where he earned a bachelor's degree in history. He went on to earn a master's degree from Ball State University in Education and an additional master's degree from IUPUI in Health Administration.

Steve was employed in various positions through his professional career including: the Indianapolis Public School District as a teacher, Ivy Tech as an administrator, Unisys Corporation as a salesman and the State of Indiana.

Retirement took him to one of his very, very favorite places the Brickyard Golf Course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he served various Board Member positions of the golf club and worked as a ranger/starter.

Giving back to his community was extremely important to Steve. He enjoyed his many years as an active member of the Indianapolis Kiwanis Club. He especially looked forward to being a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army Red Kettle event and participating in the annual holiday Clothe-a-Child event.

His retirement time would find him walking a Florida beach picking up shells and sand dollars or on a beautiful golf course in Bradenton or at the Brickyard Golf Course enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Catherine McDermott and her team at Gulfside Behavioral Care as well as the team at Tidewell Hospice.
