Steven Lee Perkins, 71, of Palmetto, Florida, passed into the hands of our Lord on October 27, 2024, after 52 years of marriage to his sweetheart Denise. Steve was a devoted husband and father who showed incredible strength and spirit in his battle with cancer, surviving Stage 4 melanoma for 27 years before being diagnosed and treated for esophageal cancer for the past two years.

He had a heart of gold, and freely shared his love and kindness with family and friends. Born February 4, 1953, in Columbus, Georgia, Steve spent his career in management, sales and pool design in metro Atlanta, Fort Worth, Texas, and Orlando, Florida, with a semi-retired stint working at a local marina. He was a graduate of Georgia State University.

Steve enjoyed sports, traveling, boating and embarking on many adventures including a trip abroad to Scotland in 2022. Most of all he loved to spend time with family and his beloved dog Maggie May.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Marie McClurg Perkins, daughters Michelle Renee Currie and Kristina Leigh Nugent of Palmetto, Florida, sister, Karen Sue Barnett and husband Marc, of Sun City Center, Florida, and an extended family of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey R. Perkins, Jr. and Carolyn Lee Bell Perkins, and son-in-law Bobby Nugent.
