Stone Crabs Break Marauders' Winning Streak

BRADENTON – The Marauders (12-6) lost the home stand finale against the Charlotte Stone Crabs (6-12) 7-1 on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. Charlotte’s win ended Bradenton’s seven game winning streak.

Charlotte plated two runs and chased Marauders starter John Kuchno (L, 2-2) in the second inning. The Stone Crabs plated four more runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead, and tacked on one in the seventh to go up 7-0.

Raul Fortunato’s RBI-single got Bradenton on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the only run charged to Charlotte starter Reinaldo Lopez (W, 2-1), who struck out nine batters over 6 2/3. Lopez teamed with two relievers to strike out 15 Marauders.

Fortunato, Eric Wood, and Adam Frazier each had two hits for the Marauders. Wood hit his second double of the season.

The series shifts to Port Charlotte on Wednesday night. Orlando Castro will try to get Bradenton back in the win column. The game is at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
