Suspect arrested in home invasion

Posted

BRADENTON - A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the home invasion that led to the death of Crystal Johnson, 19, and her unborn child.

Jeremy Stotz is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence and making false statements to a law enforcement officer, a Sheriff's Office press release said. He was arrested at a local motel.

The release says that after the July 11 shooting, Stotz took the firearm used by Lawrence Finch, the boyfriend of Johnson. It was located after the shooting despite the fact that Stotz made false statements and changed his story.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011, Ext. 2159, or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
