Posted

BRADENTON – On Wednesday April 17th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Manatee District of the Boy Scouts of America's Southwest Florida Council will honor Brigadier General Jerry Neff with the Good Scout Award at a dinner in his honor at Camp Flying Eagle. Gen. Neff was selected as the recipient of this award based on his years of service to the nation, the State of Florida, and our local community.

Besides his distinguished career in the United States Army, General Neff had an outstanding career in banking. In 2007, he retired as chairman of M & I Bank, West Coast Florida Region.

An Eagle Scout, General Neff was also 2004 Florida Banker of the Year and 2004 chairman of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce. He believes in giving back to the community and served on a variety of non-profit boards to benefit Manatee County's citizens. In addition, he also managed the M & I Bank's charitable trust foundation to provide financial support to other Manatee area non-profits.

General Neff is the third recipient of this prestigious award within Manatee County. Past recipients include Eagle Scouts Dan Blalock, Jr. and Coach Joe Kinnan.
