Sylvia Irene (Holzbaugh) Kinzer died peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. She was 99 years old, having been born in Akron, Ohio, on November 22, 1924. Her parents were Paul Clement Holzbaugh and Anna Mabel (Sheller) Holzbaugh. She lived in Ohio until 1935 when she moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family. She graduated Southwestern High School in 1941.

Sylvia married Harold Tarrant Kinzer on March 17, 1945, after he returned from serving as a United States Marine in World War II. They had four children and were married for 56 years before his passing. They spent forty plus years living in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. They moved to Bradenton, Florida, in 1999.

Sylvia was a registered nurse who worked in many different healthcare settings over the years. She retired in 1990 but had a life-long dedication to nurturing others. She was a loving, generous, intelligent, non-judgmental person. She was joyful, honorable, forgiving with a lovely sense of humor and boundless energy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was predeceased by her brothers, Paul Holzbaugh and David Holzbaugh, as well as her sisters, Cynthia Stramecky and Gloria Holzbaugh. She was also predeceased by Kristin Smith her granddaughter and Blake Kinzer her great-grandson.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, Harold Kinzer, Jr. (Ida) and Craig Kinzer, as well as two daughters, Sally (Kinzer) Hutchinson (Raymond) and Susan (Kinzer) Makowski (Frank). Also surviving, are grandchildren, Kerrie (Kinzer) Mitchell (Jamie), Melissa Kinzer (Richard Verardi), Harold T. Kinzer III (Mercedes) and Patrick Kinzer. Her surviving great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren include Dustin Kupiec, Megan Verardi, Olivia Mitchell, Tristan Mitchell, Harold Kinzer IV, Trinity Kinzer, Grace Lantz, Landon Lantz, Samantha Kupiec, Damon Sajewski, Aubrey Kupiec and Dominic Kupiec.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Ss Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
