It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tex Johnson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran. Tex passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, surrounded by his wife Gail and his children, Susan and Scott.

Tex's love for his family knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Johnson, children Susan Melichar and Scott Johnson, cherished grandchildren, Jimme Melichar, Ella Melichar and Justin Melichar, son-in-law Michael Melichar, and his son's partner Anna Bruzos De Logorz.

A proud Air Force veteran, Tex dedicated 23 years of service to his country, earning respect and admiration from his peers and colleagues. His military career was an important chapter of his life. Tex loved fishing and sports, but his true passion was bowling and the Dallas Cowboys. For over 10 years, Tex was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus at his Church, Saint Peter and Paul Apostles. His strong faith and commitment to helping others were core values that defined his life.

Tex will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion.

Rest in peace, Tex. Your love and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who know you.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church: 2850 75th St W, Bradenton, FL 34209. Then Tex will be laid to rest with a Committal Service and Military Honors on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2 PM, at Sarasota National Cemetery: 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
