The Manatee Sarasota Sierra Club Hosts Upcoming Events

MANATEE COUNTY -- On Saturday, June 12, the Manatee Sarasota Sierra Club will host a five mile walk at Myakka River State Park that will begin at 8 a.m. and last until 11 a.m. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes, bring water, lunch, sunscreen and insect repellent. On Sunday, June 13, the club will also host a kayak trip down the Little Manatee River open to all for a $5 donation. The group meet at 9:30 a.m. and will paddle upstream to the state park and explore the tributaries there. Lunch will be held at the park and followed by the return paddle back downstream. Bring lunch, sunscreen and water. For information and to reserve a spot, contact Mike Lehner at 941-365-1073 or mklehn@hotmail.com.


On Saturday, June 19, join the Manatee Sarasota Sierra Club again to enjoy and explore some of the diverse habitats found in the Sarasota and Manatee counties. For a $5 donation, the morning will include hiking and botanizing. Weather and what's in bloom will determine the final location.  Make sure to bring water, sun protection, and a snack. For further information and reservations call Bill Lewis at 941-355-2156.
