This Week in Local Government: August 18-22, 2014 (Updated 8/9)

BRADENTON – Early voting in the primary election continues from Monday until Saturday. The Manatee Tourist Development Council will meet on Monday. The BOCC will convene for a work session in the morning (with a report on "the development of a plan to address redevelopment concepts and economic development growth opportunities in the Southwest County Improvement District") and another in the afternoon (with a discussion on health benefits for full-time vs. part-time employees) two work sessions on Tuesday. (Update: the Palmetto City Commission will have a budget workshop Tuesday evening.) The Bradenton City Council will workshop on Wednesday, and the Manatee Port Authority will meet on Thursday, with a presentation by Tampa Bay World LLC CEO Neil Cosentino on possible future project for improving economic growth for Tampa Bay.
