On the early morning of Thursday, September 4, 2014, Paul Saracino, age 93, of Bradenton, FL entered into eternal rest peacefully while in the care at the TideWell Hospice House in Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.  Born in 1921 in Fernandina Beach, Florida, he was the son of the late Angelina Tringali and Guisippe Saracino, natives of Sicily, Italy. 

As a young boy his parents moved to Highland Park, Michigan where he graduated from Henry Ford Trade School where he was captain of the basketball team.  Paul served his country in World War II with service in the U.S. Army Air Forces (AAF) stationed with the 2532 AAF located at Randolph Field, Texas.

Shortly after his military service, he attended Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) in Michigan and was inspired to become an entrepreneur.  He became a real estate investor and then opened one of the first automatic car washes in the Metropolitan Detroit area - Paul's Auto Wash in Royal Oak, Michigan. This led to the opening of other car washes and being elected to the President of the National Car Wash Association. He also was the founding member of Bay Pointe Country Club in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

Paul was active in his community, becoming president of the Lions Club and sponsoring many local youth sports teams. His real estate endeavors brought him to Bradenton, Florida where he was a founding member of the El Conquistador Country Club (now IMG Academies Golf & Country Club). Paul was a gregarious, social person. He loved to play golf, going to Notre Dame Football games, playing cards with his friends, traveling on cruises and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn (Schultes) Saracino and older sister Nancy Saracino, also of Bradenton, who at 95 passed away on August 30, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Loretta Saracino of Bradenton, FL; five children including Cathy Saracino of Warren, MI (Art), Gary Saracino (and Vicky of Sterling Heights, MI), Jan (and David Bartholomew of Plainwell, MI), Ann Meredith (and James Walewander of Haymarket, VA), and  Keith Gontarek (and Aimee of Leonardtown, MD); 8 grandchildren: Megan, Heather, Kevin, Danny, Erin, Amber, Ansen and Aiden; and two brothers: Joseph E. Saracino, South Bend, Indiana and Robert W. Saracino, Berkley, Michigan.

Memorial Mass will be held at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church located at 2850 75th Street West, Bradenton FL, 34209 on Tuesday, September 9th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Bertha Everman, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Bradenton, FL.  Bertha was born April 10, 1924 in Logan, West Virginia to Paul and Mary Harvath of Debrecen, Hungary.

Bertha was an extraordinary mother and a woman of great faith.  She dedicated her life to those she loved; her husband, her children and her church. She had a life-long devotion to the blessed mother and prayed her rosary every morning before starting her day.

Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and one grandchild, Kenneth Beach.She is survived by three daughters, Theresa Davis of Tampa, FL, Dolores Jones, of Anderson, SC and Mary Catherine Tyler, of Bradenton, FL; one son, Joseph Everman of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

While in the company of his daughters at his bedside, Jack Stewart Shaw passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday September 2nd, 2014.

Jack was born in Florida on September 6th, 1942 and was an only child. Preceded by his loving parents Jack and Pearl Shaw. He is survived by his daughters Shannon Shaw Montgomery and Shelby Shaw Woods, sons-in-law Rick Montgomery and Donnie Woods, grandchildren Ashley, Austin, Erika, Jeremy, Victoria and Phillip.

Jack has chosen to be cremated, no service will be held, his family and friends will gather privately on Saturday, September 6th, to celebrate his life.

Duwayne R. Mead, 79, Bradenton, died Aug 30, 2014. Born in Flint, MI he moved to Bradenton in 2001 from Grand Blanc, MI

Duane was a Veteran of the National Guard and was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Survived by son, Charles (Lisa) Mead; daughters, Kimberly Mead and Kari (Neil) Senechal; grandchildren, Selena, Aaron, and Faith.

Dorothy J. (Pyne) Hepner , 76, of Bradenton, passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, Aug 30, 2014.  She was the daughter of the late William C. and Dorothy (McClatchey) Pyne. Dot was raised in New York and Upper Darby, PA.  She graduated from the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart.

She lived in Medford Lakes NJ until moving to Bradenton, FL 25 years ago. Dot was a devout member and employee of St. Joseph R.C. Church as parish secretary for 15 years.  She was a member of the church choir, Respect Life Ministry and worked with many other church groups and organizations.

Survivors: sons, David and Michael (Claudine) Hepner; daughter, Laura (Butch) McCorkle; seven grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou (Joe) Sweeney; brother, Bill (Carol) Pyne; former husband, Dave Hepner; and sister-in-law, Diane Pyne.

Dot's family would like to thank Fr. James Archambault and the Eucharistic Ministers from St. Joseph Church for all of the sacramental care they provided. Also, many thanks and much appreciation are extended to Braden River Rehab/Nursing Center staff for their caring, patience and concern for Dot.

Caroline J. Ryan, 86, Bradenton, FL, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Friday, August 29, 2014. Caroline moved to Bradenton 24 years ago from Santa Cruz, CA.

Caroline was the widow of Robert A. Ryan, daughter of Henning and Beatrice Jacobson (both deceased) and is predeceased by her sister, Betty Bansen. Caroline was born and grew up in Philadelphia, PA and she graduated from Germantown High School. While in Philadelphia, Caroline was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church.

Caroline had a varied carrier life including teaching sewing for Singer Sewing Machines after graduation high school and was a computer programmer in the late 1950's to early 1960's for a Philadelphia savings bank. Caroline also worked in the payroll departments of the University of County Office of Education in 1989, where she ran the payroll department. Caroline was a member of the Sons of Norway Sarasota Lodge 3-539.

Caroline loved to sew and to travel. The many varied places she went to include the North Cape in Norway, the Orkney Islands off of Scotland, Yosemite National Park on CA and the L'Anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland. She travelled many times across the USA by car and braved the crossing of the North Sea from England to Norway and back by ship even though she was quite prone to seasickness. Caroline is survived by her daughter, Melissa.
