Urban Land Institute to Give Report on Manatee's New Growth Plans at Tuesday Meeting

Posted

MANATEE COUNTY – The Urban Land Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization, will make a presentation to the Manatee County Commission with its recommendations on the How Will We Grow (HWWG) project. HWWG is a community visioning exercise that offers new plans to manage development growth for the next generation of Manatee County residents, visitors and businesses.

ULI volunteers say they have spent the past week visiting all corners of the county, reviewing local growth patterns and interviewing more than 80 leaders from the arts, business, sports performance, government, education, the environment and development arenas.

John Osborne, who has worked on the report for more than a year, thinks ULI’s report will offer an important outside perspective to HWWG.

“Not only do we get the input of senior level representatives from various disciplines, but a variety of experienced professionals with no agenda or vested interest,” Osborne said.

The meeting will air live on Manatee Government Access (MGA), locally on Bright House channel 622, Verizon channel 30 and Comcast channel 20. The meeting can also be viewed live at www.mymanatee.org/mga.
