SARASOTA — The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall will host its first "Family Fest" on Saturday, Sept. 27. With Alice in Wonderland as the theme, the Van Wezel will host two performances of Asolo Rep on Tour’s production of Alice in Wonderland, along with an interactive mindfulness and literacy activity with dynamic teaching artist Mr. Stevey.
Inspired by the wildly popular Friday Fests, Family Fest is a multigenerational event that the whole family can enjoy. Throughout the event, attendees can participate in themed activities with local community organizations, enjoy delicious snacks from food trucks, and browse the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, which showcases products created and sold by local children.
Like Friday Fest, Family Fest is free to attend. The event will take place on the back lawn of the Van Wezel and in its Grand Foyer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Relaxed, sensory-friendly performances of Alice in Wonderland will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The performances feature flexible seating, and families will have access to headphones, fidgets, sensory tools, and a designated quiet space.
Future updates on shows and productions can be found on the Van Wezel’s website and through social media on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. Information on events and programming from the Van Wezel’s education department can be found through social media on Facebook and Instagram or by visiting VanWezel.org/education-
