Vernon Bostelman

On May 24, 2024, Mr. Vernon Henry Bostelman of Sarasota, FL passed away at the age of 91. Born to Fred and Regina Bostelman on April 14, 1933, he was the husband of Annabelle Bostelman of Sarasota, FL, and father to Ronda Duvall (Rodney) of Bradenton, FL; Shiela Bostelman of Annapolis, MD; and Roger Bostelman (Brenda) of Troutman, NC. He was preceded in death by both parents; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Bostelman; and a brother, Winfried Bostelman. He is survived by his children, grandchildren: Rebecca Nemeth, Aaron Duvall, Ryan Bostelman, and Haley Walter; and great grandchildren: Cailyn, Caden, Mason, Brady, and Evan.

Mr. Bostelman served as Seargent in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955, was deployed to Seoul Military Post 8096, and received the Korean Service Ribbon. Two months after he came home from serving his country, he married the love of his life, Annabelle for 69 years. Vernon and Annabelle traveled all over the U.S., Europe, and Asia and, upon retirement, they moved to Florida. They had many friends and hosted several dinners and parties at their home and most Saturday nights, they went polka dancing.

Vernon was a farmer and welder from Deshler, OH from 1955 to 1963, graduating from the International Business College in 1964, and was a programmer/systems analyst for the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD from 1966 until his retirement in 1992.

Services will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM with viewing following the service from 2:30 to 4:00 PM at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 40 N Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236.

Burial will be on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vernon's house of worship, New Life Lutheran Church, 8010 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34240.
