Victims in fatal shooting identified

BRADENTON - The two victims from a double homicide on July 3 have been identified, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

They are Irwin Figuero and Rubin Gonzalez Garduno.

At about 9 p.m. on July 3, a citizen called 911 after she heard several gunshots and when deputies arrived at the scene in the 1100 block of 59^th Avenue Drive East, the found two Hispanic men lying in the roadway. They were unresponsive. One man died at the scene and the other was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses said the two were walking west on 59^th Avenue Drive East when a vehicle approached them from behind. Shots were fired as the vehicle passed them. The vehicle was described as possibly a blue Mercury Grand Marquis.
