Posted

State Representative Bill Conerly (R-Bradenton) spoke to the Manatee Patriots this week. Rep. Conerly gave an update on several bills he has filed and discussed projects he is working on. He was also asked about SB 180 and its future, which he said was complicated by what Gov. Ron DeSantis would sign into law. Thank you Mr Conerly for your astute observation that "burdensome" is a vague term. Duh. Ya think? Then his response to SB180 was that there shouldn't be a bill to fix it because the Governor might veto it, although he's "heard someone might be drafting a bill." My gosh, there is no way the voters of east Manatee should re-elect this airbag in the August 2026 primary. I'd vote for a ham sandwich rather than be represented by such a mealy mouthed weenie. We'd better get used to this kind of language from our so-called state representatives, they are going to try and play us for idiots and do nothing but give us this kind of 20-minute lip service in response to actually fixing SB180. I can't wait to hear Boyd weasel out of doing anything. VOTE THEM OUT! (And hat's off to Mr. Wright and the lady standing up in the back)

So he says just because Orange and Manatee County filed suit the governor may veto the bill that 60+ counties want, and "you just have to face reality". His firm is losing money because of it. If he won't represent what his constituants overwhelmingly want and he won't even make a good case for the sake of his firm, why is he in office?

Glad to say I did not vote for this man. He keeps mentioning the governor needs to sign any law if the legislature passes it. The way it sounds he doesn't think the governor will not sign a bill that fixes this debacle in retribution for the lawsuits that have been filed. That is why we need the courts to interpret it. It should in no way be applied to any new development or buildings. The change in impact fees, enforcing the FDAB by getting rid of the language in the Comp Plan allowing breaching further east or reverting back to the wetland buffers DO NOT impact any structure being repaired or rebuilt. They only apply to any new development and that's why developers and builders are bastardizing the original intent of the original bill and pushed for the last minute change.

Right On Mr. Daniels. Additionally, Conerly needs to come clean regarding his gross conflict of interest with SB180 and his engineering firm that depends on developers abuse of Sarasota and Manatee County lands.

How do empty-headed, ignorant, and spineless folks like this get elected? It's all about the ballot box folks!!

Thank you David Daniel’s for telling it like it is! Personally I’m shocked at Conerly callous and cavalier attitude towards his own County and the folks who elected him. Let’s all remember who he has shown himself to be in three years and not make the same mistake again.

As of my comment, there are 6 other comments and unsurprisingly, none of them are good. That's ok, neither was the answer you were given. I will be posting my analysis on my Facebook page tomorrow. Look for me there - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61579081778826&sk=about I'm not sure a link will work in these comments - www.johnphillipsforhouse.com and link to my facebook page there.
