Volunteer seat open on affordable housing committee

BRADENTON - The county is accepting applications for an open seat on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, according to a Wednesday press release.

The committee helps Manatee County's commissioners make decisions on affordable housing issues.

Applicants for the seat should be actively engaged in the banking or mortgage industry in connection with affordable housing, the county said in the release. Applications are due by July 24 and can be found at the county's Web site.

The committee meets on the second Monday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Manatee County Administration Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. It reviews policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and Manatee County's Comprehensive Plan. It also recommends specific actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing while protecting the property's ability to appreciate in value.
