Vote for Joe Di Bartolomeo

As an admirer of The Bradenton Times, I was surprised and disappointed to read the publication’s recommendation for District 5 County Commissioner. The fact that Robert McCann won the Republican primary doesn’t necessarily make him the best candidate for the position.

Early in the process, Joe Di Bartolomeo was asked to run for the District 5 seat as a Republican. This was not possible since he had already filed as a No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate. Thus, the Republican primary became a contest between McCann and Ray Turner.

We need more independent thinking on the County Commission. Joe does not pander to extremists on the left or right side of the political spectrum. Nor does he intend to promote “red meat” issues that have no bearing on County matters.

Joe is not tied to any special interest or party. His approach is to use logic and common sense to solve problems and do what is best for Manatee County residents. He wants to return professionalism, respect, and civility to the Commission meetings.

Most of the County Commission’s activities are financial in nature. Joe has education, expertise, and experience in accounting, finance, information technology, Fortune 500 companies, small business, and community associations.

Let’s elect someone who will represent the people, not a political party.
