Walter Mays Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. Born on November 11, 1951, Walter lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to his family.

A proud Marine, Walter served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty into every aspect of his life. He pursued education at Lincoln Memorial, Palmetto High School, and Strayer University, always valuing knowledge and personal growth.

Walter was a man of strong faith and was deeply connected to his spiritual community through Turner Chapter AME Church and St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church. His presence in these congregations reflected his commitment to living a life guided by love and service.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Gail Mays; daughter Daisy Murray; sons Matthew, Jermaine, and Donnie; cherished granddaughter Lauren Kinder; mother Doris Lee Mays; sister Donna Maria; and brother Myron. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Mays Sr., and brother Gary Mays.

Known for his kind heart, sharp wit, and gift for conversation, Walter had an eye for taking care of business and brought laughter wherever he went. His warmth touched many lives and left lasting impressions on all who knew him.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater St. Luke P.B. Church, located at 540 12th Street Drive West in Palmetto, Florida.

Walter's legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to share in his journey. May he rest in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord he so faithfully served.
