BRADENTON – The weather is hot and so are the things happening this weekend. Legendary blues songstress Candye Kane is at Ace's for a special one-night performance and comedian Michael Jr. is also in town. The Marauders have a couple of hone games including a Bark in the Park promotion. Grab you K-9 and put on your dancing shoes, it's time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!
On Saturday night, blues diva Candye Kane plays a special one-night stand at Ace's Live in West Bradenton. Kane has appeared in Rolling Stone and People magazine and has had guest spots on many TV shows including Roseann and The Chris Isaac Show.
The Washington Post called the songstress' big, booming voice “a natural wonder – like the Grand Canyon.” Kane, who has been doing 250 shows a year since 1992 has built a reputation as one of the most entertaining acts in music and her live performances are the stuff of legend.
Kane takes the stage at 9 p.m. for a non-smoking show. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
The Marauders are home on Friday and Sunday this weekend. Friday, August 16 is the fifth and final Bark in the Park at McKechnie Field. Pooch passes cost just $2, which will be donated to the Humane Society of Manatee County. The first 500 fans will receive a Marauders dog bowl courtesy of Pepsi. Designated doggy water areas will be provided.

Friday is also Football Night. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite football team apparel to the ballpark. Football-themed prizes will be given away throughout the game. After the game, there will be a post-game concert by 80’s cover band SuperBot. The Kona Bar built by NDC Construction will remain open during the concert.

Michael Jr. has been under the bright lights in the biggest cities. The comedian's humorous jokes and observations have landed him on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, The Late, Late Show, BET's "Comic View", Comedy TV and more.
But his Stand-Up and Give Comedy tour, which comes to Bradenton this weekend, will not only provide a dose of hysterical clean comedy, but hopefully unite local communities in providing non-traditional aid to homeless shelters.
One of the most prominent clean-comedy artists in the industry, Michael Jr. is currently on a multi-city weekend tour that will bring him to First Church of the Nazarene in West Bradenton this Sunday.
But while he's here, Jr. will also visit the Manatee County Red Shield Shelter to perform a private comedy show for the men and women who are living in the emergency shelter for the homeless, something he does on each stop of the tour.
