BRADENTON -- The post holiday doldrums are over and there's plenty to do in Manatee weekend during this summer-like January. This weekend, you can see a concert, ride the Ferris wheel, bid on a cow and gulp down some BBQ all under the same roof. That's right, the Manatee County Fair is back. Plus you can drink beer for charity at Beertopia, or finally learn how to use that new Ipad that Santa left under your tree. Who's up for a deep fried Oreo? It's time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!
The Manatee County Fair is back! The fair is a showcase for the best of Manatee County. This year's fair features exciting exhibits and vendors, livestock shows and auctions, competitions, a thrill-packed midway, a variety of great entertainment and, of course, fair food — all packed into ten days and nights. Come celebrate Manatee County and the warmth of the community. You are always welcome at the Manatee County Fair!
Things get started tonight at 5 p.m. and run through January 27. Tickets are $8 adults, $5 for kids and there are a host of discounts and special pricing days. Fair admission includes entertainment and this year you can see such popular acts as Don Williams, Josh Wilson, Colt Ford and For King and Country. Plus there will be a meet and greet with Captain America, the popular Sea Lion Splash show , magic acts and the popular Rock-it the Robot. Click here for the full entertainment schedule.
The Junior League of Manatee County's annual festive fundraiser, Beertopia, will have a new twist this year - one that will raise funds to help Feeding Empty Little Tummies (FELT) feed our homeless children on weekends.
In addition to all the other fun, paintings by four renowned artists will be sold with the proceeds going to FELT. This year's Beertopia will be held Saturday from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing.
Beertopia is a fun-filled evening of beer tastings from around the world, tasty foods from area restaurants, music and dancing. There also will be a silent auction for great bargains, such as getaways and vacations.
In addition, there will be the sale of the four coveted paintings by well-known artists Ann Abgott, Linda Van Tassel, Donna McIntyre - with all proceeds going to FELT. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. To purchase tickets visit www.jrleaguemanatee.org.
