Weekend Adventures In Bradenton: October 19-20, 2013

BRADENTON – Fall is in the air and this weekend brings several seasonal traditions. GT Bray's annual Goblin Gathering returns Friday night, which will also mark return of Music in the Park on the Bradenton Riverwalk. The Downtown Bradenton Farmer's Market welcomes the return of Mainly Art on Saturday, which will also see the return of the Picin' Picnic. Put on your Halloween costume or grab your dancing shoes, it's time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!

BOO! Manatee’s 11th annual Goblin Gathering holds an extra surprise for families this year.

This year’s Goblin Gathering has again been paired with National Night Out to bring Manatee families a double dose of fun and information. The Goblin Gathering and National Night Out will be held Friday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at G.T. Bray Park, 5502 33rd Ave. Dr. West.

Kids and families will have their usual choice of fun stuff at the Goblin Gathering: a costume contest, face painting, a hayride, bounce houses and an 18-foot inflatable slide. Admission is $5 for the bounce house, hay ride and face painting. Concessions will be available for purchase. There will be costume contests in four age categories (ages 4 and under; 5 to 8; 9 to 12; and 13 and older) and one family category.

Also on Friday, HuB Sarasota will present the original photography series Organic Ghosts, by renowned Sarasota photographer Brian David Braun. Braun, whose work has been featured on album covers, book jackets, and even in major New York City studios has been called one of the best young photographers in the south.

The installation features 35 large-format silk prints. The opening coincides with the grand opening of the HuB's second level.

Organic Ghosts is an ongoing body of work, part of a series of photos taken over six years in Myakka State Forest. There will be live music, refreshments, artwork and a retrospective slide show at the installation opening.  The event takes place from 6-9:00 p.m at the HuB, 1680 Fruitville Road Sarasota, FL 34236.

The Bradenton Riverwalk celebrates its One-Year Anniversary with the launch of a "Music in the Park" a concert series beginning this Friday. This week's concert will be held in the Riverwalk Pavilion, where there will be free birthday cake to the first 150 people! Food and drink will be available for purchase. The show starts at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Pickin' Picnic returns from 4:00-10:00 p.m. at Riverwalk. Come enjoy an evening of free fabulous live local music. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Mainly Art also Launches 2013-2014 Season this Saturday also. Yes, it's that time of year again! Every third Saturday, from October to May, the downtown Bradenton Farmers’ Market hosts Mainly Art, a showcase of local artists, artisans and craftspeople displaying and selling their creations, including paintings, jewelry, baskets, glassware, photography, painted furniture, woodworks, glass/plant hangings, children’s clothing and more.

The event also features live music and “Art Of” demonstrations. This month’s Mainly Art is October 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Fourth Avenue West in downtown Bradenton. To learn more about Mainly Art, visit bradentonfarmersmarket.com.
