MADENUSA
"All performances are in Spanish, with English surtitles available.

"MADENUSA" by Claudia Soroka is inspired by Fernández Tiscornia's play "Made in Lanús" (Made in Argentina), which premiered in 2011, and also addresses one of the various facets of the immigrant community. The story follows Mabel and Osvaldo, long-time residents of the United States, who invite “La Yoli” and "El Negro"* from Argentina in an attempt to restart an interrupted life. What happens when the world one left behind suddenly returns? With skill and sensitivity, honed by life itself, Soroka has created an entertaining, fresh, and appealing work that highlights the immigrant experience and delves into the complexities of adapting to a new culture. The play evokes the dilemma of those who left and their impact on those who stayed.
*A common Argentine term of endearment
There is a talk back with the dramaturgist after the performances on August 17th.

JSanti
Tamiami Tap
Saturday - 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

JSanti (John Santiago) is a Musical Artist, Performer & Songwriter

Hailing from New York City. As an Americana artist, JSanti's musical style can be characterized by a mix of Blues, Rock, Soul & Country. Currently. JSanti releases music as a solo artist while also collaborating in an international music collective known as Prince Pauper.

From an early age, John found the process of writing, singing and performing songs to be intensely therapeutic. At the age of 13, he experienced a sudden and traumatic loss. His first love had died in a tragic car accident. Confused and uncertain, he felt lost and searched for an outlet. He dove fervently into different creative outlets. He was continuously writing poetry, and soon sought to bring these words to life, singing in a band with friends. John had found his process.

Even when the band broke up, he refused to stop making music. He endeavored to learn how to play the guitar. It came naturally to him, and as he discovered blues guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King and Jimi Hendrix, his understanding leapt forward at a tremendous rate.

John’s use of songwriting as a means of therapy and personal expression is self-evident in the music he creates. His lyrics are vulnerable, direct, insightful observations of self-exploration. No cover.
