BRADENTON – It's the weekend and you know what that means. If you guessed another great lineup of local, talented musicians in Manatee and Sarasota counties--you would be correct. Check out the Bradenton Times Weekend Sounds to see what bands you can catch at your favorite venues.

Latin Rendezvous -- A Musical Tribute
Cafe in the Park
Friday: 7:00 pm-9:00pm 

Tonight will honor and celebrate the life of the late, and amazing performer, Elise Amaral.

Join Joni Adno (vocals, keyboards), Haris Sirbubalo (cajon, percussion), David Muñoz (guitar) and flamenco dancer, Cristina Gutierrez as we perform as Latin Rendezvous one last time.

The two main members of the group were David Muñoz and his musical partner, Elise Amaral. They played throughout the Tampa Bay area with Muñoz on classical guitar/percussion and Amaral on multiple instruments including the violin and flute.

Their music is inspired by rhythms of Latin America, Spain, the Middle East and beyond. No cover.

*All those who have performed with us over the years are encouraged to bring their instruments and sit-in with us at the end.

Located in Payne Park, downtown Sarasota, Cafe in the Park captures the spirit of a quintessential urban cafe terrace. It's the perfect place for a great coffee, a fresh sandwich, and live music. The family-friendly spot has menu selections of healthy cafe eats.

The Divebombers
Gulf Drive Café

The Divebombers are made up of musician George Worthmore on electric guitar, Nat Langston on acoustic guitar, and Chad Clifford playing acoustic bass. The band performs music from the likes of George Jones, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Non-Fat Elvis, and more. Electric guitarist Worthmore is a New York Blues Hall of Fame and Suncoast Blues Challenge winner and 2017 International Blues Challenge semifinalist. The Divebombers are ""Toe tappin' knee slappin' foot-stompin' good ol' American music."" No cover.

About the venue:

The Gulf Drive Café was established in 1981 and has been a staple on Anna Maria Island for locals and tourists ever since. The current owners, George & Wendy Kokolis, purchased the historic property in 1987. The Kokolis’ extensive experience in the restaurant industry has expanded over 45 years. After celebrating over 20 years as owners, they decided to renovate and expand the Café into a bar, The Kokonut Hut and event space, The Sunset by Gulf Drive Café.

The property sits on 2 acres of waterfront on the Gulf of Mexico and has many offerings for guests to enjoy. It includes delicious meals, impeccable service, cold cocktails, and live entertainment.

Kettle of Fish
Fiorelli  Winery & Vineyard

Kettle of Fish is Sarasota Herald Reader’s Poll winner “Favorite Band” for 2020, 2018, 2017 and 2016!

Kettle of Fish plays festiblues, the kind of festival music that features blues, soul, and funk with the energy of rock n roll. They make old songs new again, and their originals sound like classics. Kettle is one of the hottest live acts in Southwest Florida, headlining to thousands, and opening for such acts as Eddie Money, Marshall Tucker, Elvin Bishop, Dickey Betts (three times, and he even called the band “intimidating”) and many more playing originals and deep track covers.

About the venue:

Fiorelli Winery & Vineyard 

  • Children 10 & under are free. Anyone 11 and over is required to purchase a ticket.
    Fiorelli winery does offer tables and chairs however you are welcome to bring your own lawn chair or blanket if you would like.
    No outside food or beverage permitted.
    Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
    Food trucks and ice cream truck will be on site.
    Must bring ticket confirmation with you at time of event.
    No refunds, all ticket sales are final.

Trey Wanvig
Big Top Brewing Co.

Trey Wanvig is a 21-year-old blues rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Sarasota, Florida. Performing in front of audiences since the age of 14, Trey leads a powerful band of locally based professional musicians and performs regularly in front of sold-out crowds at local venues.

Trey’s deep resume includes performing at blues and music festivals including the Waterfront Blues Festival (Portland, Oregon), Bradenton Blues Fest (Bradenton, Florida), Tall City Blues Fest (Texas), Dunedin Wines the Blues (Dunedin, Florida), Blues from The Top (Colorado) and 
Giving Hunger the Blues (Sarasota, Florida).

Trey has performed alongside many great artists in the blues and blues rock world, including Eric Gales, Shemekia Copeland, Bob Margolin, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Annika Chambers, Janiva Magness, Toronzo Cannon, Paul DesLauriers, Shakura S'Aida, Biscuit Miller, Kenny Neal, Bryan Lee, Doug MacLeod, Ben Rice, Sarah Grace, Tas Cru, Gabe Stillman, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson.​ No cover.

About the venue:

Big Top Brewing Company is a Sarasota-based production brewery. A complement to Sarasota’s historical association with The Ringling Circus and the performing arts, Big Top has set out to create great beer worthy of the history and culture that is Sarasota. Folknharmony

With wit, grit and three part harmonies, the stripped-down acoustic trio Folknharmony finds new spirit in iconic, generational rock, folk and blues songs from the last half century. Fans will hear fresh arrangements of songs they know and love.

Be warned – We play gritty, stripped-down blues, stomps, laments, parodies, a bunch of folked up rock tunes we like, two-steps, and the occasional doo-wop.

Songwriters Night with Rebekah Pulley & Dean Johanesen
Cottonmouth Southern Kitchen
Saturday: 7:00 pm-9:00pm 

Join songwriters Rebekah Pulley and Dean Johanesen at Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen this Saturday, August 19th for delicious food, beer and wine, and live original music. Pulley and Johanesen will be on stage together taking turns telling stories and perfroming songs through the night. All ages welcome. $10 cover.

With an enviable ability to break your heart and shake your soul, Rebekah Pulley has earned a fruitful living in a diverse setting of house concerts, bars, and festivals while earning herself 9 'Best Of The Bay’ awards from Creative Loafing. Rebekah’s songwriting taps roots-rock, blues, old-school country & western, jazz, and gospel to become a must have for all singer/songwriter fans.

Dean Johanesen is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from New York. He has resided and performed in several US states, but currently calls Sarasota home. Johanesen's passion for gypsy jazz music in the vein of Django Reinhardt has put him on a musical path focused on stories of old times, placed in a backdrop of gypsy swing, a style that he has coined "circus swing." Throughout his career, Johanesen has shared bills with notable musicians such as Robby Krieger (formerly of the Doors), Donovan Frankenreiter, Martha Wainwright, Howard Jones, Steve Forbert, John Waite, and Peter Mulvey. $10 cover.

Mikes Sales

Mike Sales' smooth, clear vocals, accompanied only by the rhythm of his electric guitar is best described as “chill”. Performing his tropical arrangements of eclectic best selling cover songs and seamlessly weaving in his own originals...unpretentious, casual and crisp.

Mike Sales is the singer you’ll want to include in your tranquil island vacation and your playlist when you return home.

City Pier Grill and Bait Shop located on the Anna Maria City Pier. We offer fresh food, ice cream, beer and wine as well as Bait and Tackle for all patrons of the Anna Maria City Pier.

Ted Stevens 
Island Time Bar & Grill
Sunday: 7:00 pm-10:00pm 

Ted Stevens is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter based out of Sarasota, Fla. Ted has toured extensively as a guitarist with some of the biggest and most iconic names in rock and roll including the Drifters, Platters, Coasters, Temptations, Tokens, Percy Sledge, and the Shirelles to name a few.

Stevens also performs as a one man band by singing, playing guitar, bass, and drum beats live without any backing tracks. He specializes in forgotten classics and the tunes you grew up with.

His latest album "It's Showtime" features songs recorded with just guitar and vocals. He has recorded 7 solo records of original material and has been a guest guitarist on numerous projects. His latest album "Welcome to Florida" will be released on Rocktorium Records in 2023. No cover.

Island Time Bar and Grill is located on Anna Maria Island’s Bridge Street. Situated on the ground floor beneath the Bridge Street Bistro, Island Time Bar & Grill offers an open "no-walls" tropical indoor/outdoor beachside bar setting with welcoming gulf breezes. Their varied menu serves from their upstairs restaurant, Bridge Street Bistro, featuring fresh ingredients, surf-to-turf, and made-from-scratch recipes by chef Jimmy Lopatinski.
