Posted

BRADENTON — A Dickey Betts tribute, a jazz trio, a 21-year-old rock guitarist, are just some of the talents you can see this weekend. Be sure to stay in the know for another great lineup of local, talented musicians in Manatee, Sarasota, and surrounding counties. Check out The Bradenton Times Weekend Sounds to see what bands you can catch at your favorite venues.

Clover's Revenge
Tamiami Tap
Friday - 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Clover's Revenge brings a mix of two Irish musical traditions: acoustic pub music & Celtic punk rock. Utilizing simple instrumentation, the trio creates an explosive sound, with detailed harmonic lines, complex rhythms, and provocative original lyrics. Steeped? – no, their Irish speed folk is pickled in the traditions of the Dubliners, Pogues, Silly Wizard, and Flogging Molly. The band insists upon high-speed, technical traditional tunes and punk rock badassery.

Featuring Beau Wilberding's percussion on the Cajon drum, Zach Johnson on guitar and vocals, and John Barron on vocals, mandolin, and guitar. High energy, high fun. No cover.

Steve Junot
Floridays  Woodfire Grill & Bar
Saturday - 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

In the last 20 years, Steve Junot has played over 5000 gigs.

When you ask him how he's lasted so long, he'll give you one big reason. "I realized early on that it's not about me... it's about playing what the audience wants to hear."

He loves giving 'em what they want so that they can have fun.

" If the audience is in the mood to chat with each other, I'll play some laid back, softer stuff so that they can chat. Or if they're in the mood to really listen, dance or cut up and I'll deliver that too. It's all about reading the crowd and giving them what they want so they have a great time. "

Sometimes someone in the crowd will make a request, other times Steve just scans the audience and seems to be able to pinpoint the right song at the right time. And with a repertoire of over 1000 songs, he can pretty much handle any audience.

But his favorite is taking requests.

"I love when I get a crowd who has eclectic tastes. One of my favorite nights was when someone requested an Elvis song. Right after I played it, someone else requested a Lil' Wayne song. Man, that's about as far reaching as it gets in a two song span, but I loved it! And so did the crowd."

To sum it up, Steve has the repertoire and experience to deliver the fun. No cover

James Albritton
Bridge Tender Inn
Sunday - 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

James Albritton serves up the soul sound of the 70s (and more). “People don’t think they know me, but they do,” claims James Albritton. The reasoning behind that, he explains, is that he plays guitar and sings at clubs and in concerts in lots of different configurations, from solo gigs to backing up others (and just to add to the confusion, that may be on guitar or drums), to regularly playing with Andrew Glasgow, Damon Jeffrey Owens and John Hetherington as The Hydramatic (his regular full-band home) and in various duo or trio configurations. So you may have seen him and not realized it was him, he reasons… but offers this helpful hint: “I’m the giant, nerdy-lookin’ dude who sings weird.” No cover.

About the venue:

Established 30 years ago, Bridge Tender Inn (BTI) is Bradenton’s favorite sports bar and grille to eat, drink, and socialize while watching a televised sports event. You can chug beers, eat lip-smacking food, enjoy live music, and make great memories in a comfy, laid-back setting.

This Packer bar is owned by Fred Bartizal and has a staff of 50+ veteran servers who love to offer the best drink-and-dine experience to their guests. The general manager, Sue, has been here for 25+ years and the assistant manager, Shannon, has been here for 10+ years. They’re the ones that oversee making that experience happen!
