BRADENTON – It's another great weekend for music across the 941 with live shows at a number of venues. Check out the Bradenton Times Weekend Sounds to see what bands you can catch and where.

Kach / Poulos & Friends
Big Top Brewing Company
Friday: 7-10 p.m.

Mike Kach, keyboardist to Dickey Betts & Great Southern, joins guitarist Greg Poulos, drummer Steve Camilleri, and bassist Burt Engelsman this Friday at Big Top Brewing in Sarasota. The four have performed together and separately with numerous other well-known musicians and bands over the course of their notable professional careers.

During his tenure with Great Southern, Kach’s soulful vocals could be heard on Betts originals like "No One Left to Run with It,""Nobody Knows," and "Southbound."Kach's own ballad, "Get Away," appeared on the Dickey Betts & Great Southern live CD/DVD set Rockpalast: 30 Years of Southern Rock.

Born and raised in Sarasota, guitarist Poulos has more than a little experience performing for audiences. Over his career, he has performed with Freddie King, Pat Ramsey, Rock Bottom, and many others. For drummer Camilleri, his start in music began in childhood. Camilleri has toured with the Dickey Betts Band and is the current drummer of the Matthew’s John’s Band. Engelsman is also a performer of experience, having toured with The Gregg Allman Band, performed as a member of former local band Eclipse, and jammed with area singer Twinkle, as well as having performed with the likes of James Brown, Freddie King, Dickey Betts, John Lee Hooker, and many others.

As if bringing their experience and talents together for another live show wasn’t enough reason for music lovers to celebrate, Friday’s show is also guitarist Poulos’ 70th birthday! No cover.

About the Venue:
Big Top Brewing Company is a Sarasota-based production brewery. Valuing their great town and its great history, they set out to add in a great local beer. Folknharmony
Pub 32 Irish Gastropub
Friday: 7-10 p.m.

Folknharmony is a cocktail of vocal harmony, expressive acoustic guitar, and folk-ish songs. With two guitars and vocals, Dr. Zach Johnson and Nancy Gauvreau bring their musicality and humor to audiences for a unique light-hearted experience. Percussionist Beau Wilberding’s Cajon brings energy and thump to the trio’s setlist.

With his doctorate in guitar, Zach Johnson plays across many genres, including Irish speed folk (think Flogging Molly) as a member of the successful trio Clover’s Revenge. Nancy Gauvreau, a former fine arts teacher, has been performing solo and in various duos and trios since 2010. With Beau Wilberding, also of Clover’s Revenge, adding his supportive percussive talents, the three have created a trio that snaps and thumps. The trio's interpretations of well-loved covers bring the right sort of uniqueness and renewal that can cause listeners to fall in love with their favorite song all over again. No cover, reservations are recommended.

About the Venue:
Pub 32 Irish Gastropub is an Irish-owned and operated pub(lic house). A place patrons can go to relax, enjoy themselves, and make new friends. Located in Sarasota, this venue provides outdoor patio seating in addition to its indoor bar and restaurant. Pubs in Ireland are now known for not just the drinks they serve, but also the food they offer too. Pub 32 strives to be not "just a pub“ but an Irish kitchen. Head chef Mark Mulholland and his team work to provide homemade food that covers all the Irish classics but also gives room for some creativity. (I recommend the Rueben!) Rye Road Band has been rocking audiences up and down the Gulf Coast of Florida for over a decade. Their sound is a unique blendof new country and rock. The band features Pete Tamburin’s emotional vocals and country-influenced guitar, drummer Dan Garrido’s solid rhythms and amazing high harmonies, the energetic and booming bass lines of Bryant Crawford, and the soaring keyboards of Tim Meyer. Catchy, accessible melodies under lyrics that everyone can relate to, a sound sure to rock and move you! No cover.

About the Venue:
East of I-75 on Fruitville Road, Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse is an open-air barbecue restaurant set under an expansive outdoor tiki hut, including an old-Florida style Tiki-bar. Established by the Stottlemyer family, the family-friendly award-winning restaurant and live music venue serves slow-cooked brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sandwiches and salads, and a unique atmosphere. Celtic Conundrum

Celtic Conundrum brings to the stage an exciting mix of musical and vocal virtuosity with foot-stomping energy! Their music is a distinctive brand of infectious, energizing, and just plain fun. The band's original music, and their arrangements of traditional tunes, have earned Celtic Conundrum a reputation as being among pioneers of American Celtic. No Cover.

Located in east Bradenton off of Manatee Avenue, 3 Keys Brewing is a family-friendly brewery with a full kitchen serving up gourmet-style pub fare. Offering an inviting social atmosphere and weekly list of entertainment, music, and food and drink specials. American Celtic band, Celtic Conundrum

Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio
Motorworks Brewing
Saturday: 7-11 p.m.

Popular local band Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio return to the Motorworks beer garden stage this weekend. Twinkle has worked with Aerosmith, Dickie Betts, Rod Stewart, Gregg Allman, and countless others. In the '90s, she was signed to Warner Brothers for her debut album Haunted by Real Life produced by Patrick Leonard (Madonna, Roger Waters, Pink Floyd) where it gained ready attention on the jazz/pop charts for its title song. Rock Soul Radio members are lead vocalist Twinkle, guitarist Lenny Brooks, bassist Tony LeClerc, with Benny Puckett on the drums. No Cover.

Band members Ron Kraemer on the electric guitar and vocals, Gregg Germony on the upright bass, and Michael Finley on da' brushes come together in a trio that jumps and swings. They're a swingin’ jazzy blues band that brings cool jams and a good time. No Cover.

Mattison's Riverwalk Grille is located along Bradenton's Riverwalk Park downtown. Mattison's pride themselves on their commitment to using sustainable practices and serving only foods that are hormone and antibiotic-free. They work with small family farms and source their produce and seafood locally. Rebekah Pulley is a St. Petersburg, Florida-based singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music has been described as jaw-dropping, with a tendency to break your heart and shake your soul. She's etched out a fruitful living in a diverse setting of house concerts, bars, coffeehouses, and festivals around the globe and has earned herself eight 'Best of The Bay’ songwriting, recording, and performance awards from Tampa’s Creative Loafing. Pulley is sure to please with her smoky Southern Folk sound infused with roots-rock, blues, old-school country, jazz, and gospel. No cover.

Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones

Doug Deming & the Jewel Tones play traditional blues, West Coast and Texas swing, and early '50s roots rock. Deming is an American blues and roots guitarist/vocalist, earning a Blues Blast Music Award nomination for Blues Band in 2013 and 2019. They also reached No. 3 on Billboard’s blues albums chart for their 2018 record Complicated Mess. Accompanied by bassist Andrew Goham (formerly of the Bottom Feeders), and percussionist Zack Pomerleau (a seasoned musician born and raised in Auburn, Maine), this trio is rockin' rhythm & blues! No cover.

Fire branded in the Chicago blues circuit, roots-rocker and bluesman RJ Howson picked up his skillful guitar chops performing and sharing the stage with blues icons and fellow musicians at Buddy Guy’s Legends, Rosa's Lounge, Kingston Mines, BLUES on Halstead, and many other clubs in the Windy City as well as countless other venues across the Midwest. RJ continues to be steeped in the southern stews since moving to Florida with openers for Butch Trucks & the Freight Train Band, Dickey Betts & Great Southern, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Molly Hatchet, Buddy Guy, and a host of legendary musicians. Having played music beginning in his youth, RJ has played everything from Chicago Blues to Funk, Soul, Rock, Gospel, Country, Salsa, and World Music. "My goal is to use music to show that the roots of all people are the same and to play it forward while paying tribute to the past and my mentors".

RJ will be joined by Mike Kach on keyboard for Big Top’s "Blues & Brews,“ the venue’s weekly residency concert. No cover.
