Special Rules for School Board Elections

In school board elections, the candidate's party is not listed. All candidates run in the primary on the same ballot. In most instances, the primary election is final. If no candidate receives greater than 50%, there is a run-off election with the top two candidates on the ballot in the general election.

How to Change Your Party Affiliation

Elections highlighted in yellow are where there are ONLY Republican candidates, but the primary election is closed so that only Republicans can vote due to the write-in candidate loophole. If you wish to change your party affiliation to be able to vote for the candidate that will be representing you, you must do so by July 22 and vote in the August 20 primary. Party affiliation can be changed by mail, going to the Supervisor of Elections office, or online. To change your party affiliation online, go to https://registertovoteflorida.gov/.

To submit an online application, you will need:

  • Your Florida driver license or Florida identification card issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles,
  • The Issued Date (MM/DD/YYYY) of your Florida DL or Florida ID card; and
  • The last four digits of your Social Security Number.
