March 13, 1940 - January 11, 2025

With heavy heart, we announce the passing of William D. Boucher, who left us peacefully on January 11, 2025, at age 84. After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, Bill showed immense strength and resilience in the face of this challenge.

Born on March 13, 1940, in North Adams, Mass., Bill was the son of the late William and Janet (Blair) Boucher. The family later moved to upstate New York, where Bill attended Fort Edward School and met the love of his life, Mary (Devino) Boucher, whom he married on September 1, 1961.

Throughout his long career as the owner of Boucher & Sons Construction, Bill mentored many employees and was known for his hard work and dedication to his craft. He will be remembered for his boundless acts of kindness, his unwavering willingness to help anyone in need, and his love of tinkering in the garage, where he spent countless hours fixing things and creating solutions. His children are forever grateful for the life skills, including a build-it-and-fix-it mentality he instilled in them.

Upon retirement, Bill and Mary moved to Palmetto, Fla., where he embraced the warm weather and outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed riding his golf cart through the neighborhood, visiting friends, and touring the ocean shoreline.

Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary; his children, Terri Knowlton and her husband, Mike, of Hartford, N.Y., Brian Boucher of Hartford, N.Y., Scott Boucher of Hartford, N.Y., and Robbie Boucher and his wife, Cerise, of Castleton, Vt. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Burch, and her husband, Gary, of Hartford, N.Y.; his brothers, David Boucher and his wife, Beverly, of Chestertown, N.Y., Douglas Boucher and his wife, Zoey, of Hartford, N.Y., and Timothy Boucher and his wife, Lynn, of Hartford, N.Y. Bill was a cherished grandfather to Sheena, Corey, Mackenzie, Abbigail, Carson, Scott, Brooke, Dyer, and Alexandria; a great grandfather to Skyler and Addison; and he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Instead, the family encourages everyone to honor his memory in their own way, perhaps by performing an act of kindness.

We are deeply grateful for the love and support extended to us during this time. Those who wish to commemorate Bill are invited to consider donating to an Alzheimer's charity in his honor.

He will be greatly missed but forever cherished in our memories.
