William (Bill) Francis Dacey, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Bill was born on April 17, 1939, in Binghamton, New York, to Stewart and Margaret Dacey.
Bill is survived by his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Dacey, and his cherished dog, Callie. Bill and Mary Ellen were married on June 1, 1963, at St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton, New York.
After their wedding, Mary Ellen and Bill briefly relocated to Akron, Ohio, following the birth of their first son, William. They then returned to Binghamton, where their second son, Daniel, and daughter, Patricia, were born. In 1968, the family moved to Suffern, NY, where they resided for 17 years, and their third son, Joseph, was born. By 1985, William and his family had moved to Mahwah, New Jersey, for a decade. Following this, he and Mary Ellen moved to Montvale, NJ, where they lived for 13 years. In 2008, they moved to Waretown, NJ, spending winters in Bradenton, FL. By 2012, William and Mary Ellen made a permanent move from New Jersey to Bradenton, settling in the Hawaiian Village retirement community.
William spent his last 13 years in Bradenton, among friends and family, where he was known for organizing many enjoyable and charitable events within their community. William cherished their annual February vacations at The Estero Island Beach Club on Fort Myers Beach, where he and his wife owned a timeshare. He loved reuniting with his family each year and reconnecting with friends made during their 41 years of visits to Fort Myers Beach.
William also enjoyed traveling to Saint Martin and staying at their timeshare at the Towers at Mullet Bay. For over 27 years, William and Mary Ellen became well-known around Mullet Bay.
From the 1970s to the late 90's William was a pioneer in the mortgage industry and was the co-founder and president for both American Funding, LTD and Residential Money Centers in Montvale, New Jersey. He was an amazing leader and considered an icon in the sub-prime lending industry.
Bill was an avid New York Yankees fan with a passion for animals, especially dogs. He was known as the most giving and supportive person to everyone he met and worked tirelessly each year to host a Christmas party for underprivileged children. Bill was the most giving and charitable person, usually the first to step up and offer assistance to anybody in need.
William is survived by his children, William Dacey (his late wife Joan) of Wyckoff, NJ, Daniel Dacey of Mahwah, NJ, Patricia Dacey of Bonita Springs, FL, and Joseph Dacey (and wife Courtney) of Apollo Beach, FL; his cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Emily, Tristan, William, Ryan, and Erin; and his great-grandchildren, Rylee, Oliver, and Evelyn. He also leaves behind his brothers John Dacey (and wife Linda), James Dacey (and wife Lori), and Tom Dacey (and wife Marie).
A Funeral Mass for William will be held at St. Joseph's Church 3100 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205, on Friday, April 25, at 11:00 a.m.
