William J. Fletcher, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 86.

Born on September 22, 1938, in Saugus, Massachusetts, Bill was a man whose intelligence, humor, and selflessness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. Bill's early life in Saugus set the stage for a remarkable journey. His academic pursuits led him to earn a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, a field in which he would excel and innovate throughout his career. Bill's professional life was characterized by dedication and ingenuity. He worked at Cabot Corporation during his younger years, making significant contributions, including developing various patents that showcased his keen understanding of chemical processes. His entrepreneurial spirit later inspired him to found Tulco Inc., where he continued to work in the chemical industry for 45 years before retiring in 2019. His colleagues and peers respected him not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his mentorship and genuine care for those around him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill's personal interests painted the picture of a man who found joy and fulfillment in life's simple pleasures. He had an enduring love for opera, which spoke to his appreciation for the arts and the beauty of human expression. Bill's dexterity extended to his home life, where he could often be found tinkering in his yard, his hands deep in the earth of his garden, or fixing anything that required electrical and mechanical skills. His ability to solve problems and fix broken things was a metaphor for his approach to life; he was always ready to lend a hand and help those in need. Bill's warmth and generosity extended to his personal relationships, which he treasured above all else.

Though predeceased by his mother Margaret Fletcher, his father William H. Fletcher, cousins Ann, Billy, and his good friend Donny, he was surrounded by loved ones during his later years. His legacy continues through Jeff Mousseau and his wife Jen, their children Jeff Mousseau Jr. and his wife Brittney, and their children Gracie and Landon. Bill also leaves behind a host of individuals who became like family to him over the years, a testament to the vast network of lives he touched.

The words "intelligent," "funny," and "selfless" only begin to scratch the surface of a man whose life was lived with purpose and kindness. Bill's story is not just one of personal success but also of the countless moments of joy and laughter he shared with everyone around him. His was a life well-lived, full of accomplishments, cherished memories, and the love of his extended family and friends. As we bid farewell to William J. Fletcher, we celebrate a life that exemplified the very best of human potential and the enduring impact of a kind soul. His memory will be cherished, and his presence sorely missed. Rest in peace, Bill, and thank you for everything.
