Banyan Coffee Opens Palmetto Location

Posted
PALMETTO – Banyan Coffee Company, a local craft coffee roaster that has been wowing java connoisseurs at local farmers' markets and through its delivery service, has opened its first brick-and-mortar coffee shop. Located in downtown Palmetto, the store is open Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (closed Sunday and Monday).

"First of all, we want to thank so many people for making this a reality," said owners Josh and Abbey Schmitt on the company's website. "Without family, friends, and Banyan supporters, our coffee shop dream would not exist. We wanted to create a coffee shop environment for folks to feel welcome. The specialty coffee culture can be very intimidating therefore we launched our coffee truck to provide a more comfortable vibe to everyone. The coffee truck wasn’t enough for our coffee enthusiast, so we decided to build a coffee shop to meet the needs for the day-to-day coffee experience."

Patrons can actually see the coffee roasting process as they enjoy their cup of joe from a 12-foot viewing area of the coffee roastery. Banyan roasts all of their coffee on demand rather than in large bulks that sit in storage, keeping beans fresh until the coffee hits your cup.

In addition to coffee, Banyan serves delicious local baked goods and says that online ordering is coming soon through an app that will allow customers to order coffee and treats that will be ready when they arrive and, for anyone who has ever waited a seeming eternity for a regular coffee as specialty drinks are made, they plan to create an express line during busy hours for folks just wanting drip coffee.

The Banyan Coffee Shop and Roastery is located at 1110 10th Street West in Palmetto.
