Local Music Icons Return for Festival on Saturday

Posted
BRADENTON – The Southern Rock and Bar-B-Q Festival takes place this Saturday at the Masonic Park and Youth Camp in beautifully-scenic Wimauma, just 27 miles north of Bradenton. Chris Anderson (the Outlaws) Johnny Neel (the Allman Brothers Band) will headline the all-star music event with their new project, RattleBone, coinciding with the release of the band's debut CD.

Fresh off the Southern Rock and Rock Legends Cruise series, Preacher Stone and the Curt Towne Band will both perform as well. Bay area international guitar superstar Damon Fowler will also take the stage, along with Jake Castro, Whiskey Foxtrot, and local favorites Kettle of Fish. The event will end with an all-star jam that is sure to include some surprise appearances.

"This CD is the breakout music from Chris after 20 plus years with the Outlaws," said local guitarist Greg "Stretch" Gerdes who is promoting the event. "Now that he's teamed up with Johnny Neel, Rattlebone will be a force to be reckoned with."

In addition to music and food, there will also be boating, canoeing, hiking, hay rides, and other activities, along with arts and crafts vendors. Tickets are $37.00 and can be purchased here. Children under 12 accompanied by a ticketed adult are free. No tents or coolers are allowed during the concert, but admission includes primitive tent camping for the night for those who wish to stay. Food and beer vendors will be on site. No outside food and beverages are permitted. The address is 18050 U.S. 301, Wimauma, FL 33598
