BRADENTON – Following a nationwide search, Arnel Wetzel has been named Human Resources Director for Manatee County Government.
Mr. Wetzel brings over three and a half decades of HR management experience to this position, having served as the Director of Human Resources for Galveston County (TX) since 2018. He has an extensive background, with professional leadership roles in municipal and private sector organizations dating back to the mid-1980s.
"He is anxious to join us,“ said Manatee County Administrator Scott Hopes, in introducing him to the Board of County Commissioners this afternoon.
Mr. Wetzel – who will be relocating from Galveston in the next few weeks – will oversee the full range of human resource functional areas, including benefits, compensation, employee and labor relations, performance management, talent acquisition, and training and development.
"I know there’s work to do,“ said Wetzel, who graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 1982. "I know the issues that we are facing, and I can’t wait to get started.“
