I am concerned about our county's election integrity with a "lame duck" supervisor of elections who has fired three of the most qualified employees since he was not the chosen in the last primary. How can the county residents have any confidence that our votes will be handled properly, and counts reported correctly?
WE have signed a petition to the Governor to replace him with no response as yet?
I am a democrat - small d and big D - and I agree with any Republican, that any candidate that puts their goals and objectives above the laws and principles of the Constitution and founding documents of this nation is not "fit" or worthy of holding office in its government at any level! And certainly, not the office of president. This government was by design one that would allow each of the three branches to serve as a check and balance on the other... this princple guide appears to have been broken; by less principled individuals elected, or appointed or both! We expect the best people to serve - with honesty and honor. A great country cannot stay great with less!
A history lesson may be seen looking back as recent as the twentieth century, when Italy, Germany, and yes, the USSR, were able to have "strongmen" rule: Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin. They were cults of "one-man" above-the-law" rule. History as shown us how well that turned out! Do we see efforts to make that happen here? God forbid!
Three excellent questions. The answer is obvious as has been seen by the recent property damaging floods after storms! Our storm water protection controls are inadequate for the development that has been allowed.
The Manatee Comissioners have failed the businesses and citizens! There is one solution for the citizens... vote them out. Find those who will serve and put the good of all the people of the county over that of lining the pockets of developers!
My understanding is that for a period of time, the little alien guy on the corner of the Opera House was missing, and then later found in storage. I don't know the details, but I love that it was restored to its original spot.
The primary reasons for NO given by Sierra Club boil down to 2 words. "Traditional" and "preferred". The fear is that the use of the word "traditional" would open up now banned practices that are traditional such as bear traps and gill nets (called the wall of death). Preferred means that hunting and fishing would be placed above non-lethal or perhaps more humane means of wildlife management making it both less humane and also possibly having catastrophic effects on wildlife that we might not be able to recover from.
How and why does storm water enter the sewage system? Why aren't these two effluents handled separately? Obviously raw sewage is far more dangerous to our environment than storm runoff water.
Yes, again - the state - make that DeSantis and his "rubber stamp" legislature is putting money ahead of the "good" of the state of Florida. The wildlife corridor is much more valuable to the state than another golf community! Selling off state property for some company's private gain, a private golf course, rather than saving state land for the preservation of Florida's natural wildlife! Florida doesn't need the this kind of money... why are you doing this? It doesn't benefit the people of Florida! Did some dark money flow into your campaign coffers?

Read the resolution uploaded to the agenda. Per description: "Transfers $13,100,000 to reserves in General Fund from the Building Capital Projects fund for the Administration Center New Parking Garage project to reallocate and utilize funding more efficiently. Funding for this project is delayed due to time constraints and will be funded when needed. Also transfers $13.1M from reserves to the Parks and Recreational Capital projects fund for the Seafood Shack/Boat Ramp Land Acquisition project to acquire property."
Where in that resolution is Peninsula Bay ramp funds mentioned except at board meeting? Where is boat ramp funding mentioned?
According to resolution, they took the money from the admin parking garage. Guess the administration parking garage is no longer critical to replace in the detriment to staff and citizen safety.
Can't take your eyes off these a*****es for a second... How is Florida's wildlife going to survive with all the impacts from all directions?
...
I'm sure they'll find a way to bring it back around.
Pam is part of the problem with the current City Council. Rarely does she bring up opposition to anything on the agenda including the questionable ones that should be reviewed. She goes along with the program and that's why the developers love her they know they can count on her for the developers vote.
Her district is still marginalized still has boarded up houses still has crime and drugs and have not seen any forward thinking in moving her district in the right direction. Do we need to bring the blue puppet to the city of Bradenton?
Pam should be "One and done" in my book and should be in yours
For The Record
You will see the same wave in the city of Bradenton as we have seen in the county. Citizens are fed up with the cronyism with developers and back door deals. I have witnessed several sunshine violations on a routine basis within the city of Bradenton council. You have a state's attorney who doesn't think it's worthwhile to prosecute sunshine violations and therefore rarely is anything done to correct the problem. Bill Saunders is a whistleblower and that's why he was marginalized during the last election cycle. He will be a breath of fresh air and bring accountability and transparency back to the city of Bradenton that has been lacking for years.
If you really want to get to know Bill come on our to our meet and great on Wednesday September 4th from 5pm to 7pm at the great Wilder’s Pizza located at 827 14th St W. BTW…. When was the last time mayor Gene Brown had a meet and greet?
I thought so, I can’t remember either…For The Record
Very well done and well written. Thank you. Our parks have been neglected for too long and for far too long have relied on volunteers to do work that is beyond the capacity of Rangers and other staff. Most of the volunteers are out of state snowbirds who use volunteerism to get around the rule of two week stays within the parks. With 28 million visitors generating $3.9 billion per year in revenue, I don’t see why budgets need to be as low as they are. If DeSantis really wants to improve park attendance, he does need to follow the steps you have outlined in your article. thank you again
Will Robinson needs to be "Lost in Space" he is a bought and paid for developer pawn, just like the other Pedicini candidates. Continue the message that the Developers don't own Manatee County anymore.
Scott also proposed to sunset & vote to renew Social Security and Medicare every five years -- an idea so knuckleheaded that even his GOP Senate colleagues held their noses.
Thank you Trent, Jennifer, and the Republican Assembly. I was so impressed with the groups level of engagement and enthusiasm. You all were part of wide, grass roots coalition that set an example that we can all work together. A lesson the entire Country can learn from. You all didn't just complain. You didn't just post. You all showed up! And you made a difference.
