In any campaign for public office, voters deserve to know the true character of the people asking for their vote. True character isn't defined by a person's lowest point; it is defined by how they pick themselves up, take accountability, and spend the rest of their lives working to be better. My life is a testament to the fact that redemption is not just possible; it is powerful.
Nearly twenty years ago, I was battling the disease of alcoholism. In the darkest period of that struggle, I faced domestic violence charges. I do not make excuses for that time in my life, nor do I run from it. It was a wake-up call that demanded deep personal inventory, absolute accountability, and an unwavering commitment to change. Nineteen years ago, I chose the path of sobriety. With the help of Alcoholics Anonymous—a fellowship I remain actively dedicated to today—I rebuilt my life from the ground up, one day at a time.
True redemption requires making amends and doing the hard work to heal. I am immensely appreciative that my family was able to move on from that difficult chapter with a foundation of collaboration and respect. Today, my ex-wife and I are on very good terms. We remain cordial, supportive of one another, and, above all, we have partnered as parents to raise our wonderful daughter and put her through college. Our shared commitment to her future proves that restoration and mutual respect are always possible when you choose the path of growth. The fact that my daughter still lives in my house today makes me feel both honored and humbled.
It is disappointing, though not surprising, that my opponent has chosen to dig into a painful two-decade-old chapter and to involve my family to run a negative campaign. Politics should be about lifting people up, not tearing them down. My opponent wants to talk about who I was twenty years ago. I want to talk about the work I've done for this community since redemption, and the leadership that I will bring to the Board today. Politics and true public service should be about lifting people up, not digging up old pain and involving my family just to shade his voting record and his lack of candor regarding his own personal transgressions.
My journey has given me a profound sense of empathy for anyone fighting a tough battle, facing adversity, or looking for a second chance. Over the last 20 years in this community, I have channeled my energy into being a voice for others, leading local advocacy efforts, and working to ensure my neighbors are well informed to address their concerns.
I am running for Manatee County Commissioner, District 4, because I believe in accountability, redemption, and real leadership. I have proven in my own life that with hard work and dedication, one can overcome the greatest of challenges to build something strong, honest, and impactful. That is the exact same ethic and dedication that I promise to bring to the Board of County Commissioners. Thank you for your continued support, your trust, and your belief in a better future for our community.

When the only "dirt" they can find is the thing you did (that you take full responsibility for) that changed your life for the better. It only makes me respect you more. You have been regularly attending Commissioner meetings for longer than the 10 years I have been watching. You go to almost every meeting often times more prepared than sitting commissioners. You have been asking questions and representing the public during public comment without the public at large ever knowing. You will bring a lot to the table and District 4 would be lucky to have you.

Unfortunately, I do not live in district 4 so I'm unable to vote for Glen or I certainly would. I did the next best thing by making a donation to Glen's campaign. What transpired 20 years ago in one's personal life, that they've been able to turn around, speaks louder than the actions of the guy who recently, while supposedly "serving the people" of Manatee County, voted to reduce impact fees for developers! Instead of protecting residents from having to absorb the costs for infrastructure improvements, necessary to keep up with increased population growth, he voted to give a helping hand to builders. Don't reward this! Vote for Glen!!

A human being who can stand up and conquer his demons is a strong human being.
We now need Glen Gibellina to stand up and help conquer our County’s demons.

Isn't it "refreshing" when someone actually acknowledges their mistakes, takes responsibility for them and makes amends by contributing over a long period of time...rather than casting the blame on anyone within reach? Where are you MAGA's, Republicans, Governor, Senators, Representatives, et. al?

I am always impressed by Glen's preparation, research and presentations at the Board of County Commission meetings. Glen has been attending regularly for quite a few years and consistently stands up for transparency, accountability and what is best for the residents. He doesn't have the advantage of the resources and staff that the commissioners have, yet clearly is well informed through thorough research. He does not have developers money funding his campaign as his opponent does. Glen deserves the support and the votes. Ruth Lawler

I have known Glen for ten years while becoming involved with the grass roots Republican citizens. Glen is an honest, dedicated, patriot. He is unrelenting in his mission to preserve our rights by fighting the developer-owned traitors who are turning our farms and open lands into crowded roads and more subdivisions, straining existing resources and turning our piece of paradise into yet another overdeveloped, wore-out, and tired neighborhood. Thank you Glen for caring and fighting.

Glen, kudos to you for speaking your truth of accountability, redemption and change. Unfortunately many are subjected to those who want to use the past and a person’s lowest times as a way to humiliate and manipulate other human beings, while ignoring the whole picture of the person, their contributions and what a life can be. Best wishes for a successful campaign.
