BRADENTON -- There was nothing unlucky for 13 local nonprofits whose human services projects were featured on Gulf Coast Gives yesterday. A generous donor decided to celebrate St. Patrick's Day early by logging on to the site and funding every project in the "human services" category to completion.
"Having grown up knowing what it is like to be poor, my interest is in helping the organizations that help the neediest in our community," said the donor, who chose to remain anonymous. "It gives me a great feeling to be able to make a difference for so many with a simple click of the mouse."
Gulf Coast Gives was launched two weeks ago to provide citizen philanthropists a tool to support a variety of local organizations. With this generous gift, 18 projects have been funded, and more are added every day.
