Barbara Elaine Newman, 92, formerly of Bloomfield, CT, died peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. She was the beloved wife to the late Jules Newman for nearly 70 years.
Born on September 5, 1931, in New York City, New York, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Ruth Glaser. She and Jules met while she was working at his family owned Skliars Inn, an iconic hotel in Monticello, New York. Barbara spent her career working at NCCI, National Council on Compensation Insurance, as an insurance rater.
Barbara's favorite passion was spending time with her family. Every holiday and birthday were special occasions to be celebrated together with much food, love, and laughter. She is survived by her daughter Susan, and husband Joseph, her sons Michael, and wife Jill, and Robert, and wife Kelly, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Rachel, and husband Steven, Sam, Joseph, and fiancé Joelle, Emily, and husband Jake, Allie, and great-grandson Leo. She will be deeply missed, and remembered as a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, Grammy, and Gigi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to Southeastern Guide Dogs or Wounded Warrior Project. Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
