BRADENTON – Tyler Glasnow (W, 11-5) fired seven innings of two-hit ball while whiffing eight and walking one in the Marauders (35-21, 70-55) 3-0 win over the St. Lucie Mets (28-27, 68-56) on Sunday at McKechnie Field. The shutout is Bradenton’s 18th of the season and extends the team’s lead in the South Division to two games over the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Bradenton opened the scoring on Justin Howard’s solo home run off Seth Lugo (L, 7-2) in the second inning. Howard has two home runs for the Marauders in 23 games with the team. Jose Osuna blasted his ninth home run to double the lead in the bottom of the sixth. The final run for the Marauders came on a run-scoring double by Jordan Steranka in the eighth inning off Ryan Fraser.

Glasnow surrendered just three base runners all game. L.J. Mazzilli hit singles in the first and fourth innings, while Gilbert Gomez walked on a 3-2 pitch in the second. Jin-De Jhang picked Gomez off first base, and in the fourth inning he caught Mazzilli taking too large of a lead off second. Glasnow surrendered the final 10 batters he faced.

Josh Smith (S, 8) collected his eighth save in eight tries by retiring the final six Mets. Glasnow and Smith combined to face one over the minimum.

The Marauders took two of three from the Mets in the series and won the season series 10-8. The Marauders have not lost a series since June 28-30 when they were swept by St. Lucie at Tradition Field.

The Marauders are off on Monday, then face the Fort Myers Miracle at McKechnie Field on Tuesday night in a potential playoff preview. The Miracle clinched a playoff spot by winning the South Division in the first half. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
