CareerEdge offering Tuition Free Automotive Electrical Training

Posted

CareerEdge, the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce's workforce development program, is partnering with Suncoast Technical College and local automotive service providers to offer a tuition-free Auto Electrical Technician FastTrack training program.

Employers seek to recruit, train, and upskill their teams for an in-demand skill set. As auto-electrical systems continue to evolve, it is critical for a variety of roles to know, understand, and use tools to troubleshoot electrical systems.

CareerEdge routinely brings employers and education providers together to determine industry needs and identify this program's specific curriculum components, which will be a condensed version of STC’s Automotive Electrical/ Electronic System Technician program.  Participants will earn National Coalition of Certifications Centers (NC3) Snap-on Multimeter Certification while engaging in the employer-customized curriculum, including principles of electrical systems, electrical components and wiring, meter usage, and circuit diagnostics, battery systems, starting and charging systems, and lighting systems.

The tuition-free class will begin July 9, 2024, and run through October 3, with classes held in the evening Tuesday-Thursday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at STC’s main campus, 4748 Beneva Road Sarasota, FL 34233.  The program will also include CareerEdge’s Bridges to Careers soft skills and employability training and facilitation of the job-seeking process. Funding for the program is made possible by the CareerEdge Funders Collaborative community.

This program is open to the public. Interested individuals must be Sarasota or Manatee County residents and apply by Tuesday, July 2. Those selected will be notified.  Eligibility for the program includes having a clean background, agreeing to a background and drug test, a valid and clean driver’s license for the past three years, ability to lift 75 lbs., reliable transportation, and enjoyment of hands-on work.  The online application can be found at:  https://careeredgefunders.org/bridges-to-careers/
