Posted

Charles Otto Fulks, 86, of Bradenton, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, peacefully at home escaping the April 15th tax deadline. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, on October 14, 1937. His parents were the late Clyde Jennings Fulks and Agnes Emma Reich.

He joined the Navy as he did not want to be a ground pounder fresh out of High School in 1955. He spent time in Norway, Iceland, and Panama. Charles left the service when Uncle Sam stopped sending him around the world as he loved to travel.

He then pursued his career as a CPA and graduated from Minnesota School of Business before pursuing and marrying JoAnn Marion Birr on October 12, 1963. He earned his Certified Public Accountant Certificate on March 31, 1970, and moved to Apple Valley, MN, to run his own CPA practice. In Apple Valley he was involved in many aspects of the church and city from Deacon to Rotarian until 1986 when they left the snow and moved to Sunny Bradenton, FL and again opened his own CPA practice.

Chuck was a proud veteran and patriot whose motto was to always work hard and play hard. Many tax seasons were spent working long hours through the years of which he did truly enjoy working as a CPA and helping all his clients pay as little to the IRS as possible. He loved it so much that according to him in his mind he was doing tax returns up until his passing.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Marion Fulks; his two children, Kimberly JoAnn Seagraves (spouse William D. Seagraves, Jr.) and Suzie Min Smith, as well as their four grandchildren, Jesse James Lostetter, Kimberly Charles Lostetter (spouse Hunter Vaccaro), Kyle Robert Forsberg and Mandy Min Forsberg, and his brother, Clyde Fulks and sister, Carol Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Agnes Fulks and his sister June Feaski.

When he wasn't working hard, he was playing hard. Chuck loved to travel the world with his globetrotting family. Many fond vacations are remembered traveling in motorhomes across the country playing cows, a traveling game he invented to keep us all occupied and learn to do math in our heads. Even though he was driving he managed to beat everyone A LOT. When his children grew up, he started traveling across the country with his grandchildren and then of course started Sailing the Seas around the world on family cruises. He loved playing Uno with his wife and family. Going out to eat, watching westerns and going on new adventures.

The family would like to thank Chuck's healthcare givers from Firstlight; Dinorah Gonzalez, Denise Whited, Edgar Rodriguez, Zen Mireles, Sharon Lopez and Ayce Mitchell who helped make his last year a pleasurable one.

A Memorial Service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1805 30th Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggestions donations in his name to Bethel Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
