Chief's Corner: BPD's New Cruise Lights

Posted

You may have recently noticed some BPD vehicles illuminated with solid red and blue lights. These are cruise lights. They are low-intensity, steady-burning lights designed to increase the visibility of police vehicles, deter crime, and enhance community safety.

Cruise lights do not signify an emergency. Officers will use standard flashing lights and sirens during traffic stops or emergencies. Please take a look at a video on the department's Facebook page showing the difference between cruise lights and emergency lights.

The purpose of cruise lights is simple: to let our community know that our officers are actively present, ensuring your safety and security.
