BRADENTON -- The Bradenton Times will be helping the Bradenton Elks and F.E.L.T. (Feeding Empty Little Tummies) by conducting a food drive at the Albertson's on Manatee Avenue West and 75th Street West in Bradenton between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. today. Come on out and support this very worthy cause and you can give the gift of giving this holiday season.
Join our editor Dennis Maley and his son Sullivan as they collect non-perishable, non-glass, individual-sized food items to fill the backpacks of over 1,300 Manatee County students who often go without food outside of the school lunch program.
F.E.L.T. will be filling backpacks for these less fortunate children that are growing in number.
Inadequate nutrition is the single largest factor that impedes academic success. By ensuring that area students have at least baseline sustenance, you are not only doing the morally right thing, but literally investing in the future of our community. Children are 25 percent of our population, but 100 percent of our future and this holiday season even one food item can make a difference.
