Posted

SARASOTA — Playwright Nia Akilah Robinson won the 2020 Charles Rowan Beye New Play Commission at Urbanite Theatre in downtown Sarasota. The resulting work, From 145th to 98th Street, will debut at Urbanite Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m.

Jackie and Cedric moved their family from the heart of Harlem to 98th Street to create better economic opportunities for their children. But when their son is wrongfully accused of a crime and their daughter doubts her college plans, the Curtly family must either come together in adversity or watch as their clashing quests for success pull them apart.

From 145th to 98th Street will run through June 29. Visit the Urbanite website for schedule and ticket information.
