Community Spotlight: Harris Silverman, MD, Named Winner of a Champions of Healthcare Award

BRADENTON – Harris Silverman, MD, founding partner of The Eye Associates, was named winner of the Champions of Healthcare Award for Individual Merit by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce at their recent Awards Breakfast event. Created by the Chamber in order to recognize the individuals, institutions and programs whose dedication to excellence in their area of expertise goes beyond the scope of their profession, these healthcare awards reflect the achievements of a select few who have had an extraordinary impact on the community.

Board Certified Ophthalmologist Dr. Harris Silverman began his outstanding career in Manatee County in 1980. Starting out with his wife, Micheline, he opened the practice that has since become a premier eye care and medical complex with six offices which now serve Sarasota, Manatee and Hillsborough counties. “I’ve focused my career on providing my patients the most technologically advanced eye care available, said Dr. Silverman. “And, I’ve always felt that if you put the patients first, then success would follow.” And his philosophy seems to have worked, as he has been named BEST Ophthalmologist for 6 years running, and The Eye Associates has repeatedly won BEST Optometrist, BEST Eyewear and BEST Hearing in the People’s Choice Awards.

Dr. Silverman has performed well over 38,000 cataract surgeries and is a distinguished Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is repeatedly selected by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America", and named on the "Premier Surgeon 250 List" of the leading innovators in premium IOL cataract surgery in the US. Dr. Silverman has also served on the board of the Southeastern Guide Dog (SEGD) School, an organization which he was instrumental in establishing more than 28 years ago. Today the Silvermans serve as founders of the SEGD Heritage Society, a group committed to ensuring the long-term stability of the school through bequests. These remarkable accomplishments have earned him recognition as a true Champion of Healthcare.
