County Announces Post-Hurricane Resource and Information Events

MANATEE COUNTY – As part of the ongoing Hurricane Ian recovery efforts, Manatee County Government has announced the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center at the John Mable Park in east Manatee, and a town hall event scheduled to be held in Myakka City next week.

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) has already opened and begun operations at John Marble Park, located at 3675 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton Florida.The site will be open to residents, seven days a week, for the next month.

Manatee County Emergency Management staff, representatives of the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will assist citizens by answering questions on disaster recovery, helping clarify any written or electronic correspondence and providing information on Housing Assistance and Rental Resources. Officials can also provide referrals to agencies for further assistance or to check the status of an application(s) being processed by FEMA or other agencies. Appointments are not required to visit the Recovery Center.

On Thursday, November 3, Manatee County Administrator Scott Hopes and District One Commissioner James Satcher will be hosting a town hall event in Myakka City from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

In a press release,Manatee County Government announcedthat the "informal meeting"will be held at the Myakka City Community Center at 10060 Wauchula Road, Myakka City.

Discussions at the event will center on response and recovery from Hurricane Ian, mitigation for future flood events, safe drinking water and evacuations. Representatives from the Manatee County Department of Health (DOH-Manatee) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be on hand, along with Manatee County Community & Veterans Services, Utilities, Public Safety, and Development Services staff.
Reservations or RSVPs are not required to attend.
