BRADENTON — Longtime Deputy Supervisor of Elections Scott Farrington easily defeated former Manatee County Commissioner James Satcher in Tuesday's Republican primary. Farrington's ascension to the seat is all but assured, as there is only a write-in candidate on the November ballot.
Satcher was appointed to the seat following the retirement of Mike Bennett, despite Bennett recommending Farrington, who also served as his chief of staff, as his replacement. Funded by developers who pressured Governor Ron DeSantis to appoint the first-term commissioner, Satcher made several missteps in his brief time as interim SOE, including wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on new voter ID cards and audit machines that could not be used, as he failed to follow the necessary implementation procedures.
Despite Satcher's significant fundraising advantage, Farrington, who was endorsed by The Bradenton Times, cruised to a 19-point victory.

WTF
James Satcher is such an embarrassment, when he found out he was losing the just got up and walked out of his own office in the middle of the viewing signatures on voter mail in. He is not worthy of the position to begin with and he is childlike behavior by walking out in the middle of election night proves to me is unfit for any office, elected or appointed which he will never see again. Thank GOD
