Palmetto, Florida - George F. Oliver Jr., 79, passed away on January 26, 2024. He grew up on a farm in Olivet, Michigan. George worked for the Michigan State Lottery. He and his wife, Kay, owned the "Sweet Spoon" restaurant on Anna Maria Island. George retired from Office Depot after four years.
He frequented the Palmetto Moose Lodge and the American Legion, where he played cards. He is survived by children: Patricia Oliver, Jeffrey (Tonia) Oliver, Barbara (Gregory) Pennock-Smith, and Thomas Pennock; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, David (Rhonda) Oliver. George is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kay Oliver.
A visitation is scheduled for 10 AM on March 16, 2024, at The 20th Street Church of Christ, 122 North 20th Street, Battle Creek, Michigan, with a service at 11 AM. A luncheon will follow at the church.
