BRADENTON – Keith Green, who serves on the Bradenton City Planning Commission and previously served on the Manatee County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, has filed to run for the Republican nomination for Manatee County Commission District 7 (At-Large) in 2024. The seat is currently held by Republican George Kruse.
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, in 2020, Green and his wife, Vivian, moved to her hometown of Bradenton. In addition to his roles on the aforementioned committees, Green has held leadership roles in the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic service group, in both the D.C. area and in Manatee County.
"My goal as a county commissioner is to restore integrity to the office, something that is greatly needed," said Green in his announcement to run. "We deserve leaders who are virtuous in their decision-making."
While incumbent Manatee County commissioners Vanessa Baugh and James Satcher have already filed to seek another term, Kruse, who is awaiting trial on a DUI charge after crashing his truck into a tree near his home and appearing deeply inebriated on police body cam footage, has not yet announced whether he will attempt to seek a second term.
