BRADENTON — Manatee County Property Appraiser Charles Hackney scored an easy victory over newcomer Darrin George in Tuesday's Republican primary. Because there were no other candidates in the race, the primary was open to all voters.
Hackney, who was endorsed by The Bradenton Times, received more than 81 percent of the vote in what would be the largest landslide of the evening.
Hackney had 15 years of private-sector experience as a property appraiser when he was first elected Manatee County Property Appraiser in 1992. Since then, he has built a reputation for running a highly effective, cost-efficient operation that has served Manatee County well.
