Help the Mayors Feed the Hungry

BRADENTON – The annual Mayors’ Feed The Hungry food drive is just around the corner. Food Bank of Manatee will be delivering boxes this week to any business, organization or group that wants to help collect food donations to be distributed to the poor in Manatee and Sarasota counties during Thanksgiving.

If interested, contact Scott Biehler, Food Drive Coordinator, at scott@mayorsfeedthehungry.org or 941-350-6075.

Donations may be dropped off at Bradenton City Hall, 101 Old Main St., from 7:30-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, except on legal holidays. Please drop off by end of the day Nov. 20.

Palmetto City Hall and the Palmetto Police Department are also drop off locations for the annual Mayors' Feed the Hungry Holiday Food Drive. Other Palmetto locations include Lincoln Middle School, Palmetto Elementary, Manatee School for the Arts, Palm View Elementary, Palmetto Charter School, Church on the Rock, Hide-Away Storage, Bel Mare at Riviera Dunes, Manatee Association of Realtors, and the gatehouse at Palms of Terra Ceia.

Please bring non-perishable food items to City Hall, 516 8th Avenue West, Palmetto, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and to the Palmetto Police Department, 1115 10th Street West, anytime.

Food will be picked up on November 22, 2013 and taken to the Baltimore Orioles spring training site at Ed Smith Stadium. The food will be sorted and divided among the participating members of the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program. They will take it to their food pantries and give it away free in time for Thanksgiving.

The Mayors' Feed the Hungry Program is staffed entirely by volunteers. It is endorsed by mayors and government leaders in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. It is comprised of charitable groups, religious institutions, service agencies, and concerned citizens who desire to serve the community.
