WASHINGTON — House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Republican leaders refused requests from Democrats to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) this week, saying she will be sworn in when the House returns to regular session.
The denial prevents the final signature required on a petition to force a vote on a bill to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein, which Republican leaders and President Trump oppose. Grijalva, who was victorious in a special election last week to replace her father, the late Rep. Raúl Grijalva, has already pledged to sign the discharge petition as soon as she's sworn in.
Last week, Democrats on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released partial records from the third batch of documents produced by the Epstein Estate, which include phone message logs, copies of flight logs and manifests for aircraft, copies of financial ledgers, and Epstein’s daily schedule.
Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel have faced continuous backlash for renegging on their pledge to release the so-called "Epstein Files" in the run-up to last year's election. The slow drip of information released has dogged the administration as documentation continues to demonstrate that the President's relationship with the notorious sex-trafficker and pedophile was much closer than he had previously described.

Delaying the inevitable... Those files are coming out, too many people want that can of worms open. There are many other people who participated on the other side of the files who deserve to be prosecuted. Some of those victims have been speaking out for decades. It shouldn't have taken this long.

Hopefully, the people will get to see the whole of the Epstein files, before they are somehow redacted are lost in Trumps DOJ.

I still question why Biden didn't he push to have the Epstein files released? Epstein died when he was president and Maxwell was convicted when he was president.

Correction. Epstein died 2019. Biden's DOJ could have released files. Why didn't they?
